To make a “G sharp seventh” (G#7) or “A flat seventh” (Ab7) chord we use

the 1^st note G#

the 3^rd note C

the 5^th note D#

the b7^th (half step lower from the 7^th) note F#

This gives us the notes G#, C, D# and F# which form the

“G sharp seventh” or “A flat seventh” chord
