Every seventh chord is made up of the 1st, 3rd, 5th and b7th notes of the major scale

the 1st  note A
the 3rd note C#
the 5th note E
the b7th note G  (half step lower from the 7th)

This gives us the notes A, C#, E and G which form the "A seventh" chord
