To make a “B minor seventh” (Bm7) chord we use

the 1^st note B

the b3^rd (half step lower from the 3^rd) note D

the 5^th note F#

the b7^th (half step lower from the 7^th) note A.

This gives us the notes B, D, F# and A which form the “B minor seventh” chord
